Genetic Testing

To begin, I had no idea that the technology to select eye color, height, etc. was possible! I think that is unbelievable and quite amazing, but I would not use it. To me, it is not important to have a certain eye color, or to make sure I have a son or a daughter. Personally, even if I had a choice, I would just let nature do it's thing and not mess with it. I am not really sure if I would use the technology to see if my child had a particular disease. I don't think that I would, but that could always change once I am pregnant/thinking about having children.

  1. You know how parents tell you "we love you exactly the way you are" or something along those lines? This blog topic makes me think about, if somebody did really alter their babies appearance before birth, how that concept would change. It would be like "we love you how you are.... buuuut after we changed a thing or two about you in the womb."

  2. It is insane that it is even possible for this to happen. I am with you on this one. I don't believe that it is possible to have a "perfect" child no matter what. It may be possible to choose certain things for the child but that does not mean that child will remain healthy or be anything like they were imagined to be. I just do not see a point to the genetic testing to be honest. The disease detection part is the only helpful part, but the chances of the child eventually getting a disease is highly likely anyway at some point in their life. You can't beat nature.
